The governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has claimed that Fulani herdsmen under the aegis of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, are planning to kill him.
Ortom disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in his office at the Government House in Makurdi.
The governor stated that the former MACBAN coordinator in the state, Alhaji Garus Gololo, is the alleged leader of the killer herdsmen, who are plotting to attack and kill him.
Ortom said “There are threats to my life and I have reported that to the security agencies that one Gaurus Gololo and his team, who are members of MACBAN, are planning to attack me. But I always said life belongs to God.
”It is God that gives and takes life. So, my life is not in the hands of any Fulani man who is not happy with the promulgation of the anti-open grazing law in the state.”
Recall that Ortom had last week disclosed that if not for the media, some powerful people would have killed him.
The governor had said the media had restrained some people from doing some certain things, adding that the anti-open grazing law established in the state was not the cause of killing of innocent Nigerians by suspected herdsmen.
