The newly-deployed Benue Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, has revealed how peace will be restored in the state in respect to incessant herdsmen killings.

He stated that suspects have been interrogated and evidence collated to ensure justice is brought upon perpetrators of heinous crimes.

Owoseni speaking in an interview with Channels Tv said that 24 suspects have been arrested so far as security agencies are working earnestly to restore peace.

He said, ” At the moment we are witnessing calmness, structures have been put in place based on partnering with security agencies.

“Everyone is informed that no criminal act is tolerated whether religious or ethnic related.

“On arrest of perpetrators and restoring peace, we are working on evidence gathered from interrogations with a view to ascertaining what would have led to that incident and promptly round up criminals.

“We believe impunity will be stopped once such criminals are brought to justice.

“A total number of 24 suspects that have been arrested in connection with some of these cases which borders on culpable homicide, grievous hurt, and mischief by fire, the total number is 24. The number that have been arraigned in court are 19 while five of the cases are still being investigated.

“The security agencies are working together to kick against any form of religious or ethnic attacks.”
