A group, All Cross River Nationalities Front (ACRNF) has accused the Federal Government of not providing adequate security and protection for her citizens.

The group condemned in its entirety the killings being perpetrated across the country by herdsmen with impunity.

“We are unable to understand how a band of invaders can invade community after community and state after state over several years.

“We are not convinced that the invaders are ghosts, that being the case, the Federal Government of Nigeria, which controls the entire security apparatus of the country, must be held to account for not performing its duty by protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians”, it said.

The group in a statement made available to DAILY POST signed by its Chairman, Ntufam (Barr.) Edet Okon Asim, said that the cattle rearing was an individual citizens’ occupation.

“We condemn the attempt by people who engage in a particular occupation to insist on over-running areas outside their state of origin, by force of arms, in an attempt to prosper their individual trade.

“We are aware that if the shop owner refuses to rent out his shop to the Igbo man anywhere in the country, that will be the end of the matter. What is good for the goose should be good enough for the gander.

“The Federal Government has a responsibility to assure all Nigerians, especially at this time, that they are all equal before the law and that it is determined to protect the lives of all Nigeria which is without a doubt, the main purpose of government”, the group said.
