Former Presidential candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Olu Falae yesterday praised the courage and efforts of Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose at stopping the activities of herdsmen in the state.
Describing the herdsmen menace in the nation as worse than the ethnic agitation of both the Indigenous People’s of Biafra (IPOB) and Niger Delta unrest, he posited that the herdsmen’s activities could eventually dis-intergrate the nation should the government failed to urgently tame it.
The ex-Minister for Finance, who had been kidnapped on his farm by the herdsmen and later released through efforts of high powered security operatives, made the remarks in Akure on Saturday
According to a press statement by Governor Ayo Fayose’s Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Falae condemned the activities of the herdsmen, which he claimed could cause disintegration of the country and confessed that he has been regularly attacked, harassed by the herdsmen on his farm.
He lamented that over 500 cattle invaded his farm last Friday, saying the activities of the herdsmen is a security threat to our nation.
Falae also praised the bold step taken by governor Fayose at enacting anti-grazing laws, saying that the urgent implementation of the laws has put paid to unwholesome activities of the herdsmen in Ekiti State. He therefore advised other governors to emulate governor Fayose and free their people from the jaws of the herdsmen.
Speaking also about the recent repeat of coming tops in the National Examination Coucil (NECO) by Ekiti State, Falae congratulated Govenor Fayose, saying: “he (Fayose) has returned water to the dried fountain through bold steps taken to turn around the education industry in the state”
Also speaking on the Governor, Falae said that during the burial of late Major General Adeyinka Adebayo, “I went round the state and saw gigantic ongoing projects such as the Fly-over, Ado-Ikere dualized road, the new governor’s office, the new high court complex and the new ultra-modern Oja Oba market and I concluded that this young man is performing. I give kudos to him.”
