Herdsmen have defied the Senate’s order banning them from rearing cows within the Federal Capital Territory, DAILY POST has observed.
The Senate Committee on FCT had urged the Minister to order slaughtering of cows found loitering in the city centre.
DAILY POST correspondent on Friday observed movement of cows on airport road, close to the city gate as well as at the Federal Housing Authority junction in Lugbe.
At Lugbe, there was vehicular traffic as the cattle and struggled for space with commuters.
In the meantime, it was confirmed that the FCT Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Bello was yet to constitute a task force to enforce the ban.
Further enquiries showed that the restriction directive was being resisted more on Fridays, as herdsmen who are predominantly Muslims, attend their Jumat prayers at the National Mosque, which is located at the Central Business District.
