The Enugu State Police Command on Wednesday commenced aerial surveillance in Ukpabi Nimbo, Uzo-Uwani local government area of the state.
This came nearly one month after the community came under a fierce attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen, which left many dead.
The Commissioner of Police in the State, Emmanuel Ojukwu, who disclosed this, said aerial surveillance, which commenced yesterday at Nimbo, will also cover the three senatorial zones of the State.
According to him, “as part of measures to ensure that the entire Enugu State and its environs are made safe and secured, the state command, through the Airwing of the Nigeria police Force has commenced an aerial surveillance of the three senatorial zones of the state, beginning from Ukpabi Nimbo and Nsukka zone today 18/5/16.
“This exercise will offer the platform to fish out mischief makers, and have proper sight of all the nooks and crannies of the state for effective crime prevention and control.”
Ojukwu further stated that it was in line with the gesture of the Inspector General of Police and the Government “to ensure that the entire area is made safe.”
He advised members of the public not to entertain fear or panic as the helicopter patrols their areas.
In another development, he said the state command had commenced a full scale investigation “into the incident of Armed Robbery on 18/5/16 at the early hours, along Okwe Ugwuoba by Enugu Onitsha Expressway”, assuring that he had mobilized security operatives who were working in partnership with relevant stakeholders and the police with a view to flushing out criminals from their hideouts.
