Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have reportedly attacked Tiza village in Tombo, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The suspected armed herdsmen, on Thursday, killed three persons during their invasion of the village.
According to The Sun, the herdsmen laid an ambush for farmers who were on their way to their farms.
They opened fire on the unsuspecting farmers killing three instantly, while several others sustained various degrees of injury.
Speaking on the attack, a community leader in the area, Chief Joseph Anawah said the herdsmen came in large number with sophisticated weapons.
Anawah said the assailants blocked farm paths, shooting sporadically at anything in sight.
He said, “The Fulani terrorists have continued to wipe out Benue farmers especially in Logo and Guma local government areas.
“The terrorists’ herders have this morning (Thursday) at about 08:30 a.m. shot and killed three persons at Tse Tyogbihi also known as Tiza Village in Tombo council Ward of Logo council near Anyiin on their way to the farm.
“The herders went after a husband and wife who were working on their farm and killed the husband but the wife managed to escape. When the villagers conducted a search in and around the place, the woman was found alive.
“As we speak, those displaced persons have refused to return to the area because the herdsmen are still occupying all the farm areas and entire communities.”
