Heartland defender, Brownbaye Okpus, has been released from hospital days after he collapsed at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, during a NPFL clash with Rivers United.
Okpus went down without any challenge and slipped into coma, causing panic among his team-mates and supporters on Sunday.
He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri where he was eventually resuscitated by the Heartland doctor, Dr Andy Ezimefula and another medical colleague, Nathan Nwoke,” Heartland spokesman, Solomon Onu told supersport.com.
“Dr Nathan is a fan of the (Heartland) club who travels from Umuahia to Owerri to watch the club’s home games every weekend.
“When Okpus slumped into unconsciousness, Nathan swung into action and accompanied the player alongside our team doctor (Ezimefula) in the ambulance to the hospital.
“The player was eventually revived and he went home on Sunday night.”
