Head of Service warns FG officials against use of sirens, unregistered vehicles

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation,HOSF, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, has called on all federal government officials, to comply with the ban on unauthorised use of siren, covered number plates and unregistered vehicles.

This was contained in a circular sent to Ministries, Department and Agencies on Friday.

According to Goni Aji, the acts poses grave danger to national security, especially with the recent security reports that unscrupulous elements engage in such act in order to perpetrate heinous crimes.

The HOSF noted that “directives have been issued to the Nigerian Police to apprehend any government official found engaging in such practices for appropriate prosecution.”

In another circular also issued from his Office, the HOSF said that “in continuation of the desire to re-position the civil service, it has become imperative to revisit the age-long values and code of ethics guiding the conduct of civil servants.”

The HOS listed the values and ethics which civil servants are expected to exhibit as “discipline; integrity and moral rectitude; political neutrality, loyalty and patriotism; courtesy and politeness; modesty; tact and industry; tidiness in work environment and decency in dressing, probity and accountability; as well as promptness in service delivery.”

He called on civil servants to ensure efficient service delivery and to display professional discipline in the discharge of their responsibilities, to enhance public confidence.
