He raped 8-years-old girl, told her not to tell anybody – Police tells court

A 22- year-old driver identified as Samuel David, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Lagos for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter.

David, who resides at 30, Oremeji Street, Bariga area of the state is being tried for rape.

The Prosecutor, Sergeant Raphael Donny, informed the court that David committed the offence at his residence on May 12.

According to the prosecutor, the 22-year-old lured the victim into his room on the pretext of sending her on an errand.

Donny said, “The accused defiled the girl, cleaned her up and told her not to tell anybody.

“Days after, the girl was feeling uneasy and cannot urinate properly, hence she told her mother what happened and the accused was apprehended.’’

He noted that the offence committed by David contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

When the charge was read, he pleaded not guilty.

Against this backdrop, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Davies Abegunde, granted him bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum.

She ordered the 22-year-old to pay N100,000 into the Chief Registrar ‘s account, as part of the bail conditions.

Consequently, Abegunde adjourned the case until June 26.
