Hazard urges Benteke to join him at Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard, has admitted he would love Belgium team-mate Christian Benteke, to move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Aston Villa striker has been linked with the Blues, Manchester United and Liverpool and is understood to have a £32.5million buyout clause in his current deal.

Didier Drogba has already played his last game for Chelsea and Jose Mourinho is eyeing a new striker ahead of their title defence. Hazard hopes it is his compatriot who will eventually come.

“If Christian signs with us, I would be the happiest man in the world,” he told reporters in Belgium.

“I have a great relationship with him and would like nothing better than to play with him. Christian is 25. He is at an age where he has to make a good career choice.

“Not that Aston Villa is a small club but he has already played many great games and can now play in the Champions League.”

Hazard, who played in over 50 games for club and country this season, also said he cannot wait to go on vacation after the rigours of a title-winning campaign.

“If you play matches in England, I can assure you it is tough. Small games do not exist here,” he added.

“It is always full 90 minutes. The competition requires so much energy that we might fall short in Europe.

“I cannot complain because we were given a few days holiday after winning the title”.
