Chelsea legend, Pat Nevin said Belgian international Eden Hazard can be rated amongst the world’s top footballers, such as Real Madrid superstars, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Hazard has shown much of his old self this campaign, scoring seven Premier League goals in 11 appearances, supposedly putting him on the same level as the best in the game.
The 25-years-old has already bettered his goal tally from last season in just 11 appearances, with his display in Saturday’s 5-0 win against Everton aiming him high praise.
The Belgium captain netted twice as The Blues strolled passed Everton and Nevin believes the diminutive playmaker is at the top of his game.
“There were stunning performances throughout, with Eden Hazard showing precisely why it is not silly to ask whether he is capable of consideration alongside the likes of Gareth Bale and [Cristiano] Ronaldo.
“Diego Costa was colossal and David Luiz bestrode the match like a world-class footballer playing against an under-11 side.
“I could go on about every player with the exception of Thibaut Courtois.
“I have no idea if he was on good bad or indifferent form because he scarcely got a sniff of the ball.”
But while Chelsea’s recent performances have impressed Nevin, he stopped short of calling them favourites for the title.
“This isn’t to say Chelsea are going to walk away with the league title but at the very least it suggests this is a team that will be in the shake-up come May,” he added.
“Simply put, Man City, Liverpool and even Arsenal have had games this season where they have looked quite phenomenal.
“The football has been sparkling and the goals have rained in.”
