Hauwa Leman: ICRC breaks silence on Boko Haram’s killing of aid worker

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has reacted to the reported killing of its staff, Hauwa Leman by Boko Haram terrorists.

The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a faction of Boko Haram, after threats to federal government, reportedly executed Hauwa Leman, an aide worker with the ICRC on Monday.

The terrorists, however, promised to keep Leah Sharibu, one of the abducted Dapchi schoolgirls who is still being held captive, in their custody.

Reacting to the news, ICRC expressed sadness over Hauwa’s death while extending condolence to her family.

However they could not confirm her death.

ICRC stated this on their official Twitter page: “We are hearing devastating reports Hauwa has been executed.

“At this stage, we don’t have confirmation this is true. We desperately hope not. We will provide an update when we have accurate information.

“This situation is heartbreaking, and our thoughts remain with her family.”
