Bale
Gareth Bale grabbed his third end-of-the-season award, after he defeated Robin van Persie and Luis Suarez again, to win the Footballer Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award.
Last month, Bale scooped both the PFA Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year awards, ahead of both players and was also named in the PFA Team of the Year.
The Tottenham Hotspur winger, has had a stellar season, netting 19 goals in 29 League appearances and is almost single-handedly firing the North London team, into Champions League places.
“It is a huge honour,” Bale said after he was announced as winner. “It means a lot to win this award when you consider the number of players that have been outstanding for their clubs in the Barclays Premier League this season.
“I’ve been very fortunate to be playing in such a fantastic team and I owe a lot to my team-mates and, obviously, the manager who has shown such faith in me.
“This award has been won in the past by some of the greatest names in football and I consider it a privilege that the FWA have selected me to be named alongside them.”
