Hart, Casillas, Cech all nominated for goalkeeper of the year award

Manuel Neuer, Iker Casillas, Joe Hart, Petr Cech and Gianlugi Buffon, have all been nominated, for the award of the best goalkeeper in the world. One of these five stoppers will be honoured as the goalkeeper of the year, during the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala, which holds next January.

This time around, FIFA and FIFPro, will announce the 55 nominated players on the shortlist for the World XI in four stage:

1. On Monday 19 November: the 5 nominated keepers 2. On Thursday 22 November: the 20 nominated defenders 3. On Monday 26 November: the 15 nominated midfielders 4. On Thursday 29 November: the 15 nominated attackers

Cech has never won the award, while Casillas has taken it for the past four years. It is the first time that Joe Hart will be nominated for the award. Buffon won it in 2006 and 2007.
