Reports reaching DAILY POST has it that graduates from Ijaw kingdoms of Egbema and Gbaramatu in Delta State, under the auspices of KOMBOT, this morning stormed the premises of Chevron Nigeria Limited, Warri, in protest of the alleged refusal of the oil giant to reinstate a dismissed employee, Timmy Okeoghene.
According to them, the National Assembly and Ministry of Labour had intervened in the matter and directed the company to reinstate Okeoghene and pay his entitlements, but the company had remained adamant
KOMBOT has been at arms drawn with the company for the past two years since Okeoghene and two others were sacked by the company.
Reports say the Chairman of the group, Yabrade Moses, Secretary, Asoki Victor and others were in a meeting with Chevron officials at 9.00am while others, displaying placard, were waiting outside for the outcome of the meeting.
Though the protesters have given the company seven days ultimatum to reinstate Okoeghene or face disruption of its operation, the siege has remained peaceful, as a team of policemen were outside to monitor the situation.
