A Deputy Paramount ruler in Ikeinghenbiri Kingdom of Bayelsa State, Chief Collins Adikoko over the weekend was Kidnapped by an unknown gunmen donning the uniform of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
The deputy paramount ruler was kidnapped in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the State.
A member of the family who pleaded not to be mentioned said at about 2am on Saturday, three gunmen stormed the monarch’s house and forcefully carried him away.
It was learnt that the monarch was taken to an unknown destination in a waiting speedboat which was brought by the abductors.
“They arrived at the residence of the traditional ruler in the early hours of Saturday.
“They were three. Two were wearing the uniforms of the NSCDC, while one wore the reflective jackets used by the youth vigilance group.
“They fired several shots and abducted the monarch. Thereafter, they escaped in a waiting speedboat,” the source said.
The Bayelsa State Police spokesperson, Mr. Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident, he saying the Police has put out a search party in a bid to rescue the monarch and apprehend the kidnappers.
While reacting to the incident, the Commander, Joint Military Task Force in the Niger Delta, Operation Pulo Shield, Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Atewe, said the kidnappers would be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
