Gunmen strike in Borno, kill school teacher, two others

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect struck yesterday in the unrest city of Maiduguri, killing a school teacher and two other residents.

The heavily armed assailants, according to eyewitness invaded the residence of a school teacher, who teaches at a popular private school on GRA road in the state capital.

Another resident who does not want his name mentioned for security reason said, “They sneaked into his house at Polo area around 2am on Saturday and shot him dead.”

He added that the dreaded sect also attacked two residents at Sulemanti area, killing two other residents.

The Borno State Police Command spokesperson, Gideon Jibrin who confirmed the tragic incident said he was aware of the attacks at Polo and Sulemanti areas.

The police boss added that no arrests had so far been made in connection with the killings either by the police or by the Joint Task Force (JTF).

Yesterday killings brought the number of residents murdered in Sulemanti and Polo metropolis in recent time to 12.

It could be recalled that it was in the same area that three children were beheaded in front of their mother.
