Gunmen raid students’ hostel, kill 1

Pandemonium struck Federal University of Technology, Minna as some unknown heavily armed men launched invaded the students’ residential home in Minna, Niger state and killing a 400 level student.

The victim identified as Emmanuel hailed from Akwa Ibom state was murdered at No. 13 Zarumai and has about 50 apartments accommodating mostly students and serving Corp members.

According to residents of the house,  the gunmen stormed the place at about 3 a.m. on Saturday and killed the victim who was out to rescue his neighbour who sought for help.

The gunmen were said to have left shortly after killing the student without taking anything from the hostel.

Susan Ofuako who lived in the compound said she heard a gun shot and the voice of Emmanuel pleading for help. “He called for our help but we couldn’t go because we were afraid,“ said Susan.

Niger state police command who confirmed the incident said it has started investigation.
