Gunmen kill Ughelli youth leader, stab wife

Unidentified gunmen terrorizing Ughelli communities, and its environs in Delta State, in the early hours of Sunday, killed a 36-year-old Otor Iwhere community youth leader, Ejiro Ikpikpini.

He was murdered right inside his house, during which his wife was also stabbed.

It was gathered that Ejiro, before his was murdered, was elected the youth leader in Otor Iwhre community, a suburb of Ughelli town, a position he held under alleged threats to his life by aggrieved losers.

The police commissioner in the state, Mustafa Muhammad, who confirmed the murder of the youth leader to DAILY POST, said “we have arrested four persons in connection with the murder of the youth leader; we are investigating the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of Ejiro Ikpikpini.”

The assailants were said to have subjected the victim to serious beating, before he was shot in the chest.

Speaking to DAILY POST, the wife of the murdered youth leader, Mrs,l. Glady Ikpikpini said “They killed my husband with gun.

“They wanted to rape me, but I struggled with them; they threatened to shoot me, I shouted for help.

“They left without taking anything from our house, they shot my husband in his chest. They killed because he won election as a youth leader of our community.

“Before the gunmen came to our house, my husband told me he had received several threat messages, which he reported to the police, but nothing was done.”
