Gunmen kill two, injure scores in Delta community

Pandemonium broke out at Otolokpo community in the Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State on Monday as six unidentified gunmen unleashed terror on the community, leaving two persons dead and scores injured.

Describing the attack as barbaric, the community ruler, Collins Ezenwali, said it was strange that gunmen could invade his community, kill and injure innocent persons.

He said, “I challenge security operatives to fish out those behind the attack.”

The deceased, a retired primary school headmaster, David Nwadialo, and a trader, Dina Utomix, were said to have died on the spot after they were shot.

According to The Punch, the armed men also robbed Nwadialo’s wife after killing the husband.

They then proceeded to attack the entire community, leaving several persons injured.

Those injured were said to include some of the town vigilantes, as they were overpowered. Others were hit by stray bullets.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, said, “Investigation is ongoing with a view to fishing out the attackers.

“No arrest has been made yet,” Kalu state.
