It was another round of blood letting in Rivers on Friday, as a former chairman of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area, Christopher Abube, was killed in cold blood alongside three of his sons by yet to be identified gunmen.
The Gunmen stormed the home of Abube, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Friday evening at Obor-Obrikom in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni, killing him, his sons and leaving several others injured.The gunmen were also reported to have killed five other supporters of the APC in the same community and razed down the house of another party Chieftain. Two other persons were also seriously injured and are in the hospital.
The Rivers state Police Command has confirmed the incident.
Confirming the killings, the Rivers State Police Public Relation Officer, Ahmad Mohammad, said the police has swung into action, as investigation is already ongoing.
Mohammad, who said the incident took place about 7:30 pm, stated that manhunt has begun on for the hoodlums, appealing for useful information that can lead to their arrest.
Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni has been a major flash point of political violence in Rivers State. It boasts of top politicians in the state including the former Governor Peter Odili, the State Chairman of PDP, Felix Obuah, former party Chairman, G.U Ake and his brother Wilson Ake (who are now members of the APC) and a host of others.
