Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have killed the Pastor in-charge of Land of Peace Ministry, Alawari Ogili, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Ogili was reportedly killed at his residence along DSP Alamieyeseigha way, Opolo, Yenagoa, the state capital on Wednesday.

It was gathered that the daredevil men scaled the fence of their target at about 2:00am.

A security source, who would not want his name in print, told The Nation that the assassins shot Ogili dead and fled the house without stealing any valuable.

The source said, “It was a clear case of assassination. It was well-planned and executed unchallenged. We don’t know the offence of the pastor.

“The gunmen broke into his house, opened fire on him and ensured he was dead before they fled the place. They didn’t steal anything.”

Igili, who did not know that danger was lurking around, went out to check the fault of the generator.

“When he came out to check the problem with the generator, the gunmen who were hiding in the darkness, opened fire on him and ran away,” another source said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident.

He confirmed that the gunmen took nothing from the house, adding that investigations into the matter have begun.
