Rampaging gunmen in Aradhe community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta state in the early hours of Tuesday allegedly killed a 30 year-old student of the state owned polytechnic, Ozoro, identified as Chioke Ikpi.
It was gathered that the assailants trailed the victim to a farm land where he was doing a menial Job as labourer to eke a living as well as raise money for his school assignment in the community.
He was said to have been shot dead on the spot by the assailants who later dumped his body in the bush path before disappearing from the scene into the thin air.
But the police spokesman in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka who confirmed the incident told DAILY POST that “We are investigation the incident, no arrest has been made. We have invited the owner of the farm for question, we will fish out the killers, it’s a case of assassins.”
Speaking in the same vain, the President General of Aradhe community, Mr,Felix Omokobia told DAILY POST that, “It’s very sad. The assailants trailed the victim to a farm land where he was doing a menial job, and shot him dead on the spot. We are urging the police to fish out the killers, and ensure they are brought to book. We have taken the corps to Ozoro General hospital mortuary for further investigation.”
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Eku community have called on the Inspector General of police, Ibrahim Idris to as a matter of urgency stop the indiscriminate arrests and harassment of its leaders including their farmers.
