Gunmen have again struck in Rivers State leaving about ten people dead in a latest attack.
DAILY POST gathered that the attack was launched, Thursday in Egbeda community, Emohua local government area of the State.
The latest attack is coming on the heels of the New Year attack in Omoku, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area, ONELGA which left dozens of innocent people dead.
A source in Egbeda told DAILY POST that some the casualties were farmers who were killed on their farms including women adding that the attack may have been masterminded by a wanted ex agitator, Johnson Igwedibia also known as Don Wanny.
The source said the gunmen invaded the area early Thursday, shooting down their victims.
Another source from Ubimeni community in Emohua Local Government Area confirmed that the armed men fired sporadic gun shots in their community.
A senior police officer at Elele Town have also confirmed the attack to our correspondent but said they are not certain about the number of casualties for the moment.
In the meantime, the Rivers state Police Command is yet to confirm the latest incident.
Egebeda is an Ikwerre community that shares boundary with ONELGA both in Rivers state.
