Armed men at the weekend whisked away the wife of the chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Osun State University (UNIOSUN) chapter, Oluseye Abiona.
The woman, Funmilayo, was said to have closed from her shop located at the junction leading to the university, along Ibokun road, Oke-Baale, Osogbo and was heading home in an unregistered Lexus ES 330 ash coloured salon car, before the criminals blocked her vehicle and whisked her away in theirs.
A witness said Funmilayo engaged the hoodlums in a hot argument when she was double-crossed and reportedly hit one of them with her fist.
In the ensuing battle, the attackers smashed the rear windscreen of her vehicle and dragged her into their red coloured vehicle and drove her away, leaving her two children in the car.
Detectives from the State Police Command were immediately contacted and on arrival at the scene, rescued the two children in their mother’s car, while another detachment were on trail of the suspects.
When contacted, the State Police Commissioner, Abubakar Marafa, confirmed the incident through the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Folasade Odoro, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP).
Marafa said he had directed detectives to ensure that they rescue the woman unhurt, adding that all strategies had been deployed to that effect.
