Gunmen at about 8:15 am on Monday ambushed a police patrol team, killed one of the Policemen on duty and carted away two rifles.
The Police Patrol Team were from “C” Division in Asaba, the State capital.
In the process, three out of the five policemen on routine patrol scampered for safety, leaving two of their AK-47 rifles behind.
DAILY POST gathered that one of the policemen that was attacked later died in the hospital as a result of excess loss of blood.
Contacted, the Delta State Police Command confirmed the attack, saying five of its men were attacked.
The Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Muhammad Mustafa confirmed the report in a chat with DAILY POST.
He disclosed that some suspects in connection with the incident have been arrested, noting that investigations has commenced.
