Three (3) policemen have been confirmed dead following an attack that took place in the early hours of Friday when some unidentified gunmen stormed the divisional police station at Buni Yadi Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe state.
A statement from the Joint Task Force, JTF in Damaturu,the Yobe state capital, said the gunmen overpowered the men of the divisional police force, killing three police officers and carted away some arms and ammunition.
Lt. Eli Lazarus said, the Joint Task Force however, responded swiftly to the distress call it received and beefed up security in the town to forestall further attacks.
Some residents of Damaturu who spoke to newsmen on phone said, many people have started relocating to other parts of the state for fear of the gun duel between the gunmen and the Joint Task Force who were dispatched to the area.
