Gunmen assassinate Rivers PDP secretary

Suspected gunmen have murdered Olala Osondu, Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ahaoda West Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Osondu was killed in the early hours of Tuesday.

The deceased was until his demise the state secretary of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), a campaign organisation of Governor Nyesom Wike.

Osondu was said to be returning to his residence off Rufus Ada-George Road at about 12:30 a.m on Tuesday, after a meeting, when the gunmen killed him.

It was also gathered that the hoodlums did not pick anything in the victim’s car after killing him.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Chris Ezike, while confirming the incident, said he got a phone call at around 3:00 a.m., informing him that the man had been killed.

He said investigations were on to track down the perpetrators of the act.
