Guber Polls: Enugu residents assure Ugwuanyi of massive votes, support

A cross section of Enugu State residents have asked Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi not to border coming to their areas for campaign ahead of March 9 governorship and state assembly elections, assuring him of their overwhelming votes at the polls, in appreciation of his good works and commitment to the wellbeing of the masses.

Gov. Ugwuanyi who has continued with his intense door-to-to campaign at the markets, communities and streets of Enugu with the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) train, received the message from traders at Kenyatta, Coal Camp, Garki and Aria New Markets in Enugu, as well as residents of Aguabor in Enugu East Local Government Area, when he visited them to canvass votes for himself and all other candidates of the party.

The traders and residents of the state, who trooped out in their numbers, dancing and chanting solidarity songs, told Gov. Ugwuanyi that he does not need to come and campaign to them, as he already has their votes and support, saying: “You’re not contesting this election with anybody in Enugu State”.

At Kenyatta Market, the timber dealers whose sheds were gutted by fire on March 5, 2018, after recalling how Gov. Ugwuanyi wiped their tears by rebuilding their burnt shops and providing each of them with the sum of N100,000 as grant to re-establish their businesses, told him that they will pay him back with their massive votes at the polls. They described Gov. Ugwuanyi as a good and kindhearted leader, who is sensitive to the plight of the people and promised to deliver 100% votes to him and other PDP candidates in the state. Speaking, the governor told the jubilant and excited traders and supporters to take the message that “PDP is the way to go” to their families and neighbourhood, stressing that “a vote for Gburugburu is a vote for all the candidates of the PDP in Enugu State”.

He, therefore, urged them to come out en masse on March 9 to vote for the PDP and protect their votes, accordingly.
