Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola is keen on retaining Kelechi Iheanacho at the club ahead of the 2017/2018 season, amid reports linking him with a summer move to West Ham.
However, Iheanacho will only be third-choice striker behind Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero.
The 20-year-old only made 20 appearances in the Premier League last season and hardly got on the bench.
“Kelechi Iheanacho has not been given authorization by Manchester City to speak with any club or undergo any medical,” a top source from Manchester told Completesportsnigeria.com on Thursday.
“He is still highly rated but behind Kun (Sergio Aguero) and Jesus (Gabriel Jesus). Pep wants to keep Kelechi, but let’s see how the story unfolds.”
The source also insisted that Iheanacho left the Super Eagles camp in paris for “personal reasons” and not to continue talks with West Ham.
