Guard remanded in prison for kidnapping, raping 9-year-old boy

One Usman Idris, 46,a security guard has been ordered to be remanded in prison custody by an Upper Area Court sitting in Abuja for allegedly kidnapping a nine year-old boy and having unnatural sexual intercourse with him.

According to Sanni Idris, the police prosecutor, the accused was brought before the court on a two count charge of kidnapping and unnatural offences which contravened Sections 272 and 284 of the Penal Code.

He noted before the court that the guardian of the victim reported the accused at the Karmo Police Division.

The police prosecutor affirmed “You, the accused, abducted and kept him inside a lonely room at the compound where you serve as a security guard for one month and two weeks. You also had unnatural intercourse with him during the time which you confessed to, while you are being interrogated.’’

The accused person however pleaded not guilty to the two count charges levelled against him, asking the court for bail.

Judge Muhammad Lawal Munnir consequently ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody while the case was adjourned till April 21 for hearing.
