Group writes EFCC over alleged corruption by Kogi State‎ Government

A socio-political group, Kogi Renaissance has written the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, alleging execution of contracts at inflated rates, non-conformity with laid down procedures and outright fraudulent practices of the Bello Yahaya-led administration in Kogi State Government.

The issues were earlier raised by a group, Egalitarian Mission for Africa (EMA).

The group in a statement signed by Abdul Audu expressed worries at the obvious silence of the anti-graft agency on some issued raised by concerned citizens in the State.

EMA, according to the group, had furnished the EFCC with details of executive recklessness on the part of the governor and his agents.

The group alleged that Governor Yahaya Bello hurriedly awarded needless contracts and services to fleece the unsuspecting tax payers.

“The money running into Billions of Naira ended up in private pockets,” the group alleged.‎

The statement further added that such foot-dragging in investigating the allegations on Kogi State governor could only happen in a situation where good conscience had been bought over and law sold out.

They also accused the anti-graft agency of foot dragging in investigating serving governors.

According to the group, while a lot of executive atrocities were going on daily in Kogi State and the people were being impoverished further on daily basis, the anti-graft agency looked the other way round.

“Today, Kogi is one of the States where the civil servants are having hellish experiences.

“Recall that Egalitarian Mission for Africa(EMA) sometime in June furnished the EFCC with details of transactions, fictitious withdrawals and evidence of contracts inflation committed by the current Bello-Led government of Kogi State.

“The good people of Kogi state are in a hurry to know what happened to the much awaited bailout fund as half of the state workers are yet to be paid despite that Bello has reduced the state work force,” the statement added.
