Group tackles Iwuanyanwu over comments on APC

A political group under the umbrella of the yet to be registered All Progressives Congress, APC, South-East zone, has berated Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu for his alleged questioning of the place of Ndigbo in the new political coalition.

In a statement issued by Chief Osita Okechukwu, and made available to DailyPost, he expressed outrage on Iwuanyanwu’s statement on APC, noting that he had no moral standing to talk about the APC, considering the unjust treatment meted on Ndigbo by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

“APC wishes to state that we are yet to locate any tangible project which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where Chief Iwuanyanwu is a member of Board of Trustee has executed in the South-East in the last 14 years, in spite of the massive vote of Ndigbo to the party in every election since 1999.

“Of all the promises made by the PDP, ranging from the 2nd Niger Bridge, to Coal-Fired-Power Plant, none has been implemented. All we can say is that APC phobia has caught up with the High Chief like his colleagues in the PDP; otherwise which ideology can Chief Iwuanyanwu ascribe to PDP, except Food is Ready and Share the money; while the APC is pro-people in the ideological spectrum?”, he queried.

Okechukwu, who is the national publicity secretary of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, said Chief Iwuanyanwu should ask himself “where the likes of Dr Alex Ekwueme, the former Vice President, who almost laid his life for the formation of the PDP is today?

“Is he not ashamed that Dr Ekwueme with his pedigree, recently lost the chair of the PDP Board of Trustee to a less transparent character?

“We thought that Chief Iwuanyanwu, like some of us should be concerned that the PDP did not deem fit to assign any of the 5 prominent offices – president, vice, senate president, speaker or party chair to Ndigbo.

“It is our considered view that with Ndigbo personalities like, Dr Ogboninya Onu, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Sen Chris Ngige, Chief Achike Udenwa, Ezikel Izuogu, George Mugholu, Peter Okonkwo, Annie Okonkwo, Okey Ezea, Osita Izunaso, Uche Onyeguocha and a host of others, Ndigbo are well represented in APC”.

Blaming Iwuanyanwu on the issue of APC’s spread, he stated that with leading political parties and personalities in the North- West and in the East, as members of the coalition, the APC has enough spread, stressing that ” all we need to appeal for is free and fair elections”.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a PDP chieftain was quoted as saying that “It is madness to say we are moving to APC; who is APC, you see I had the last contact with Zik our leader, when I ran for the presidency and Zik blessed me. Zik’s advise was that we should try to make sure we are part of a political party that has got a wide spread across the country.

“APC as a party was founded on wrong political ideology and could not protect the interest of Ndigbo”.
