A group, Concerned Citizens of Bauchi State, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognize the Governor of Bauchi state, Mohammed Abubakar as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2019 general election.
The group, in a press conference in Abuja, claimed that there was no primary election for the governorship and state Assembly elections in the state, adding that INEC did not supervise and election in the state.
Addressing the press on behalf of the group, Captain Bala JIbrin (Rtd.) said it was wrong for the INEC to accept the name of Governor Abubakar when election did not hold.
He said “it is on record that no primary elections for the 2019 gubernatorial, national and state House of Assembly were held in the state, except the Direct Presidential Primary Election. INEC wrote a report stating that there was no election.”
The group threatened to explore legal option against the party and the INEC to actualize their objective.
