A group, Ijaw/Ilaje Movement for Good Governance,IIMGG,has called on the relevant anti graft agencies in Nigeria to probe the three and half years of the immediate past chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission,OSOPADEC, Debo Ajimuda
The group in a statement signed by its chairman and secretary, Adesega Julius and Ambros Roman respectively said the probe of Ajimuda’s tenure will further expose the alleged fraud the past chairman of OSOPADEC committed while in office
According to the statement, the former chairman allegedly bought over 30 posh cars to replace his 27 cars impounded by the Economics and Financial crimes Commission,EFCC, in 2012 when the commission was investigating an allegation of financial improprieties levelled against him.
The group alleged that the former OSOPADEC boss had perpetrated large scale of frauds running into several millions of Naria after the EFCC’s investigations and his eventual prosecution at the Federal High court, Akure
The monumental frauds, according to the group were perpetrated during the empowerment programme and also on the award of clearing of waterways in the water sides of Ilaje and Ese-Odo local government areas of the state
The group described Ajimuda’s tenure as frauds based, saying that the oil communities in the two local government councils of the riverine areas did not benefit any meaningful development throughout his tenure, but instead, the Commission witnessed unprecedented frauds throughout his tenure.
“We call on all relevant anti graft agencies such as EFCC, ICPC, Code of Conduct Bureau and SFU to institute different probe panels and investigate the rot at OSOPADEC during the tenure of Ajimuda ”
“We have never had it so bad in the history of the commission since its establishment. The oil producing communities had in the past witnessed overwhelming and unprecedented developments, but no single development was recorded during Ajimuda tenure. It was frauds here and there during his tenure, including diversion of public funds and illegal acquisition of personal property even with reckless abandonment “
