Group begs Jonathan to declare for 2015 presidency

A group, which identified itself as One Nigeria for Jonathan and Sambo, has embarked on a nationwide campaign, urging President Goodluck Jonathan to declare his re-election bid. The group which exists under the PDP platform, is said to have branches in 19 states with a purported membership strength of over 11 million people.

The National Coordinator of the group, Chuks Otukpo, who spoke with journalists yesterday during the inauguration of its 28-man executive campaign team in Oyo State, said the motive behind the team’s initiative was to make the incumbent president appreciate the stand of the people concerning their choice of leadership in the upcoming polls.

While asserting that President Jonathan is the only democratic leader of the people, Otukpo said: “Though, he is yet to make his decision known, we, as concerned Nigerians, need him to come and run again; we want to lure him because of his good works.”

Otukpo, also while addressing the new executive members at the conference hall of the Federal Secretariat, Ikolaba in Ibadan, urged them to be good ambassadors of the group and shun any act that may tarnish the image of the party.

He further charged them to be committed to the re-election of Jonathan, saying his achievements were too enormous to be ignored.

Hear him: “We will not tolerate violence and nonchalant attitudes, you have to be available to the members and expand the structures of this group in all the three senatorial zones, local governments and ward in this state.

“We want a peaceful atmosphere. Let us love one another because every Nigerians are the same. This foundation is interested in peace, love and unity. A peaceful environment is needed for the next elections,” he said.

The newly inaugurated members include: the State Coordinator, Gbenga Oladele, Deputy Coordinator, Segun Alao, Secretary, Oladeji Samuel; Treasurer, Taiwo Akinlabi with Olakunle Adebisi as Financial Secretary.
