Ahead of next year’s general elections, the Grand Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal in Ilorin, Kwara State, Justice Salihu Mohammed, has predicted that the outcome of the elections will be one that would shock unscrupulous politicians.

He maintained that past experiences have made Nigerians more intelligent as such they would choose candidates who they presume would work for their interests.

The Khadi made this known while exchanging views with journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday during a public lecture on ‘The role of journalists in ensuring free, fair and credible elections in 2015,’ put together by the Kwara State chapter of the Nigerian League of Veteran Journalists.

In the words of Mohammed, “Politicians are like businessmen who want to sell their wares and you advertise in your own way. Whatever they are saying; whichever way they go, all I know is that Nigerians are more intelligent, and wise and they know what to do and how to do it.

“You can see what happened during the last few elections in some states. Nigerians in those states decided and their decision came to pass.

“Many of those unscrupulous politicians will be rejected as Nigerians are not dullards. Nigerians cannot be toyed with.”

On his part, a former Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practice and other related Offences Commission, ICPC, Justice Mustapha Akanbi, urged journalists to continue striving against corruption and for a just society.

In his remarks, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, represented by his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Alhaji Raheem Adedoyin, called for the 2015 campaigns to be issue-based rather than focusing on personalities.
