Governorship rerun: How PDP reacted to its victory in Benue, Sokoto, Bauchi elections

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Tuesday reacted to the victory of its governorship candidates in Benue, Bauchi and Sokoto States during the last Saturday’s supplementary elections.

PDP congratulated Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on their victories at the poll.

The former ruling party also thanked its supporters and the people of the states for what it described as “making the right choice” during the rerun elections.

INEC had declared Ortom winner of the supplementary election after he polled 434,473 votes to defeat his closest rival of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Emmanuel Jime who had 345,155 votes.

In Sokoto, Governor Aminu Tambuwal was re-elected for a second term after polling a total of 512,002 votes to defeat Mr Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 511,660 votes.

Former Minister of the Federl Capital Territory, FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed, defeated the incumbent Governor Mohammed Abubakar in Bauchi State after polling a total of 515,113 votes ahead of the governor who got 500,625 votes.

However, PDP in a series of tweets on its vertified Twitter handle wrote: “#NigeriaDecides2019⁠ ⁠ We Congratulate the Governor/Governor Elect of Benue State, H. E. Dr. Samuel Ortom for his success at the just concluded Guber Elections. Governor Ortom scored 434,475, to defeat Emmanuel Jime, the @OfficialAPCNg Candidate. Congrats Your Excellency

“#NigeriaDecides2019 We Congratulate the Governor/Governor Elect of Sokoto State, H. E. @AWTambuwal, for his success at the Elections. Governor @AWTambuwal scored a total of 512,002 to defeat his closest rival. We thank the people of Sokoto state for making the right choice.

“#NigeriaDecides2019⁠ ⁠⁠ ⁠ Breaking News! The former FCT Minister and Candidate of the @OfficialPDPNig, in the Bauchi Guber Election, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has been declared winner of the election by @inecnigeria. Sen. Bala scored a total of 515,113 votes. Congratulations!”
