Governor Yuguda urges Nigerians to support families of fallen heroes

Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State on Thursday urged well meaning Nigerians to support the families and dependants of Nigeria’s fallen heroes.

He made the call during the 2015 Armed Forces Remembrance and Wreath Laying Ceremony in Bauchi.

He said “the heroes fell while protecting the integrity of Nigeria and the safety of lives and property of Nigerians.

“The fallen heroes need prayers for God to grant them peace while they lay in their graves.

“They deserve prayers because they fell in the course of protecting the country and protecting their people.

“Most of them left behind young ones, parents and dependants who need our support as a country and as Nigerians.

“Well meaning Nigerians should try as much as possible to extend hands of support to those dependants wherever they are.’’

Governor Yuguda also commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the state for their effort in maintaining relative peace.

He made the remark while inaugurating the office complex of the 33 Artillery Brigade, Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi, which was renovated by the Brigade Commander, Brig. Gen. James Myam.

The Governor said Bauchi people sleep peacefully because of the efforts of security agencies.

He, however, added that “as the February general elections draw nearer, a lot is expected from the military and all agencies in charge of maintaining peace in the country.

“There is the need, therefore, to increase security surveillance to ensure peaceful conduct of the general elections”.
