Governor Wada insists on local treatment, as well-wishers throng hospital

The Governor of Kogi State, Idris Wada has reiterated his desires to be treated in the country and not abroad, contrary to what most government officials would ordinarily have preferred.

Presently, three governors: Sullivan Chime of Enugu; Liyel Imoke of Cross River and Danbaba Suntai of Taraba are currently receiving medical care abroad.

Wada was involved in a fatal auto crash on Friday along the Lokoja-Ajaokuta highway. His aide de camp (ADC), Idris Mohammed, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) died on the spot, while two others were injured.

The accident it was learnt occurred at Emi Woro village, about 12 kilometres from Lokoja when one of the tyres of the Governor’s official car, a Lexus SUV, burst while in motion and somersaulted.

Wada who is currently at Cedar Crest Hospital, Garki, Abuja reportedly had a surgery on Friday night.

The Chief Medical Director, Dr. Felix Ogedengbe, while briefing journalists yesterday, disclosed that the governor was in a good condition after a successfully thigh bone operation. He Prominent government officials who visited the Governor include Vice President Namadi Sambo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim and Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Others are former National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Ahmadu Ali, former Governor of Kogi State, Ibrahim Idris, Ministers, National Assembly members, Kogi state officials, among others.
