Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has enrolled 511 Bororo children into one of the best schools in Maiduguri.
DAILY POST gathered that, for each child, government is spending N35,000 to ensure that these children of the less privileged get better education.
The Bororo community, who have been living in a makeshift tents earn their living on sales of herbs and working as local security on properties of government and the rich.
It was gathered that, governor Kashim Shettima was moved by their plights during one of his visits on inspection of ongoing construction, thereby decided to give their children education under the Borno state government scholarship.
“The desire to provide quality education for all pushed the Governor to convince the Bororo guards to embrace the idea of allowing their boys and girls to go to school,” One of Shettima’s associate told DAILY POST.
