The Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, PDPGF, Godswill Akpabio, yesterday gave out the sum of N6million for lunch – N1 million each to all the state chairmen of the party in the South South region.
Akpabio, who has been courting controversy in the past few weeks, made the donation as a reaction to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s stance, that party members should be fed well.
“I join all my brothers in the South-South in welcoming you (Tukur). Even at my position as elected governor, I must tell you this. Even if you tar all the roads in the South-South without putting food on the table, our members will not appreciate the party. If you want to prevent our members from straying to other parties, you must put food in the stomach of our supporters”, Uduaghan said.
After announcing the donation in the hall of the Civic Centre, venue of the South-South special zonal executive committee meeting on Sunday, Akpabio also beseeched the state chairmen, not to cross over to other parties.
