Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed has ordered an investigation into the courses and those responsible for the fire out break at the state’s Ministry of Energy.
A statement by commissioner for Energy, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, said “the governor advised all commissioners and head of agencies to put adequate fire prevention mechanism in place to avoid an outbreak of fire in their various organisations.”
The building housing the Ministry, the board of Internal Revenue and the state Ministry of Economic Planning was gutted by fire on Wednesday.
The fire, which was put off about five hours after it started, was believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
A guard on duty said he called the attention of the Police when he noticed the fire outbreak.
Abdullahi during an assessment visit to the scene thanked God that no life was lost.
He confirmed that none of the sensitive materials and documents of the officers were affected.
Similarly, Kwara Head of Service, Dabarako Muhammad, announced that the state government had earlier planned to demolish and reconstruct the site to a modern structure.
He said that the Governor would give the final approval on when the construction would start. .
