Several worshippers and passersby Sunday afternoon in Kaduna scampered for safety as rumour filtered into the air, that there was reprisal attack in Sabo Tasha and Central market located at the heart of Kaduna.
But Mr. Samuel Aruwan, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Media and Publicity, has dispelled the rumour on his Facebook wall stressing that: “contrary to rumors, Kaduna state is calm and there is no cause for alarm.”
Recall that there was similar rumour on Friday last week, which led to the breakdown of law and order in Kasuwan Magani in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state where three people were killed and houses burnt.
When rumours of reprisal attack rented the air on Sunday, businesses were grounded to a halt as bus drivers, cyclists and roadside hawkers abandoned their properties and ran for dear life.
Residents of Sabo Tasha, Chikun local government area of the state, who took to their heels immediately they heard the rumoured attack, got confused as to which direction to run.
A roadside hawker identified as Musa, who also abandoned his wheel barrow loaded with orange and ran for fear of being lynched to death, later returned to meet an empty wheel barrow as his ware were stolen.
Reacting to the rumour, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, wrote on Facebook that “Kaduna is calm and there is no cause for alarm.”
