Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State today reacted to the much publicised non-inclusion of state APC candidates from contesting all the elective positions in the forth coming general elections in the state.
Addressing newsmen at the Chambers of the state Government House in Gusau, the state capital, the Governor, who was with a high spirit, said that the fault was not with INEC but the national headquarters of the party .
According to him, the list of all the candidates from the state had already been submitted to the national headquarters of the party who he blamed for not submitting the list to the electoral commission.
The Governor said that instead of submitting the list to the electoral commission, the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, was busy doing what he likes.
He assured that since the pressure had fallen on the national chairman, the list would be submitted before the end of today.
The Governor noted that as far as the Zamfara State wing of the party was concerned, the party in the state has its candidates, saying that nobody can disqualify the candidates of the party in the state.
“I am very confident that the party in the state would not lose out for any reason or reasons, iam assuring the supporters of the party,” he said
It could be recalled that the party has been facing turbulent time in the state considering what the G8 described as kangaroo, obnoxious and infamous primary elections which the group claimed that the Governor single handedly conducted.
According to the group the primaries were loosely organized and conducted which gave rooms for various factions in the state chapter of the party.
Senator Garba Kabiru Marafa had in his campaign logo “operation retire them all which most of the people interviewed by this medium said that if the situation remain unsettled, it would definitely affect him as the people to be retired from politics in the state .
Governor Yari, who was received with great ovation from APC supporters appealed to his loyalists not to panic over the issue as he was on top of the situation.
Ha was very optimistic that President Muhammadu Buhari would hand over the party flag to Hon.Muktar Idris Shehu as the governorship candidate of the party in the state and that he the Governor would go to the Senate after the elections.
He noted that he had constituted all the campaign committees, saying that as soon as the president comes and left the committees would be inaugurated in the state from the wards level to the state level.
