Gov Orji commissions Umuahia, Aba High Court Complexes

Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, says the many legacy projects built by his administration testify that his government has done well in laying a solid foundation for good governance in the state.

Speaking while commissioning the Umuahia and Aba High Court complexes simultaneously in Umuahia, Governor Orji said he believed that his administration had made a positive impact on the state through its many foundational and legacy projects.

According to him, incoming governments would not be bogged down in building similar institutional frameworks but rather focus on other important aspects of government.

He noted that upon assumption of office, there was little or no institutions that support democracy or durable infrastructure adding that that was why his government responded by embarking on democracy institutions as a way of building the new face of Abia.

He stated that the ceremony could not have come at a better time than now and thanked Abians for their support for his government.

The Governor also extended his hands of fellowship to his detractors who see nothing good in his government, stressing that there were many projects on ground for people to see.

In his remark, the Commissioner for Housing, Prince K.O. Mgbahuru, said the project in Umuahia, which was furnished and equipped with state of the art facilities, was replicated in Aba and thanked the Governor for providing the new court complexes which have six court halls as well as renovating existing ones.

Governor Orji who had earlier presented a brand new jeep to the Chief Judge, thanked her for being patient adding that he will fulfill all that is due her.

Earlier in her address, the state Chief Judge, Justice Theresa Uzokwe, who expressed gratitude to the governor for the edifices, noted that this was the first time any government in the state was providing such an edifice for the judiciary and described it as the best in the South-East.

According to her, the complexes will help in quick dispensation of justice and decongestion of cases and drew the attention of the governor to the serious need for court halls and other facilities in other judicial divisions and margisterial districts outside Umuahia and Aba.
