The Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has commiserated with the people of Aladja community over the killing of nine indigenes and the wounding of others allegedly by soldiers during a renewed clash with the people of Ogbe-Ijoh.
He stated this on Friday when he paid a visit to the Ovie of Udu Kingdom, HRM. Emmanuel Bethel Otete, Owhoru I, over the unfortunate incident.
Governor Okowa, who was represented by the Secretary to the Delta State Government, Barr. Ovie Festus Agas, said, “I am here to commiserate with the Aladja people over that ungodly incident and to pray that it never happens.
“But as ugly as the incident is, government is advising the both warring communities not to resort to self-help in trying to avenge any perceived wrong doing by the other party.”
He assured the Aladja community and Udu people that the Delta State government will partner with security agencies to see that such incidents never repeated itself.
In a remark, the Ovie of Udu Kingdom, Otete Delekpe blamed the unfortunate incident on the “snail pace” of doing things by the government.
The revered monarch said the panacea to a peaceful resolution of the matter is the sincerity of purpose by the government.
