The Governor of Cross River State, Professor Ben Ayade has signed a pact with Indian company, Skipper Seil for power generation.
According to the details made available to DAILY POST, the agreement is for the Indian firm to explore alternative and sustainable power to further transform the economy of the state.
This is coming at a time the construction work on a 21-megawatt power plant being built by the Ayade’s administration in the state is nearing completion.
The plant located along Parliamentary Extension in Calabar Municipality, is expected to become operational soon.
The Governor had also reached an agreement with a Chinese firm, for the provision of technical manpower for the cultivation of cotton.
It would be recalled that the state recently went into the cultivation of cotton in collaboration with Arewa Farms.
The cultivation of cotton is meant to ensure a backward Integration program for the Cross River State Garment Factory.
Governor Ayade has also disclosed plans by his government to establish a vegetable oil factory in Bekwarra Local Government Area.
He unveiled the plans during his inspection of a vegetable oil factory in Beijing, China.
