Gov. Ajimobi declares Friday work-free for Oyo workers to register, collect PVCs

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Thursday declared Friday (tomorrow) as holiday to allow public and civil servants who are yet to register or collect their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, to do so.

Ajimobi declared the public holiday through a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olalekan Alli, on Thursday.

As the registration exercise enters its last day on Friday with preparations for the 2019 general election picking up, the Governor enjoined workers to take advantage of the work-free day to perform their civic responsibility.

“The governor has directed that it is mandatory for all public and civil servants in the state to ensure that they duly register for their PVC in the ongoing exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which ends on Friday (tomorrow).

“Consequently, His Excellency has directed that Friday, August 31, 2018 be observed as work-free day in all government offices across the state,” the statement read.
